Colorado Aggies.Com RAM Pride begins with AGGIE History

1912 to 1920 This photo is of Clarence Oldemeyer in 1917 shows the typical uniform of the teens. A green sweater with leather on the ribs for protection. The brown/tan pants and laced fly with leather belt. A green or leather colored skull cap acted as a helmet
1921 to 1928 The two photos (above) show the classic 1920's style of football uniform the Aggies wore. A green wool sweater with orange leather strips on the arms and chest. Numerals on the back in orange also. The pants were a dark yellow/tan color with the classic "Four Horsemen" style helmet shown in the photo above. The helmet was likely brown leather color or possibly green.
1929 to 1932 Lewis Walt in the Aggie uniform typical of this era. A green jersey with orange cloth strips and an orange numeral also made of cloth. The pants are more orange in color and the helmet remains the "Four Horseman" style common in the 1920's.
1933 to 1939, 1942, 1945 to 1947 This uniform begins to resemble the modern CSU football colors and styles with a dark green jersey, orange numerals and orange/dark yellow pants. The orange helmet with green cross is the classic Aggie style helmet known by most Ram fans today. In the 1940's the helmet varies from the 1930's style.
1940 to 1946 Possibly the ugliest color combination in CSU football uniform history. Orange jersey and orange pants with white shoulders trimmed and lined in green. White helmet with green cross and trim, this combination lasted during the early 1940's sometimes with green helmets.

1947 to 1949 The Classic "Raisin Bowl Style" uniform where the team wore white (with green numerals) for day games and green (with orange numerals) for night games. The orange pants with a green helmet, orange wings in front and white square patch in back.

1951 In 1951 the same white and green jerseys of the late 40's were the uniform but for the first time in school history the Rams Horns appeared on a green helmet. These white skeletal horns lasted on helmets from 1951-1956 but were difficult to maintain for painting purposes.

1952 to 1956 The classic 1950's style uniforms had an orange with green stripe on both sleeves added to the late 1940's style of jerseys and pants. Green jerseys had white numerals in this era and the Ram helmets were plastic rather than leather beginning in 1950.

1957 to 1961 The 50's style uniform changed to white pants in 1955 and the horns were removed in 1957. These uniforms are the uniforms CSU copied for their 2007 throwback day for the 50th anniversary of university status. By 1959 the numeral on the helmet was larger and larger stripes at the shoulder pads replaced the small bicep stripes.

1962 to 1970 Yellow replaced the orange in the 1960's as the Rams transitioned into "big time football" at their new stadium. The helmets were a boring yellow with middle stripe but on occasion a Ram sticker could be found. In 1969 a special 100 inside a football sticker was on the helmets to celebrate the 100th anniversary of college football. The yellow and green would dominate CSU football colors until the 1990's.
1973 to 1981 Rams horns returned to the helmets in 1973 but with a yellow base color and green horn. This combination shown here was from about 1975 to 1978. Later versions featured horns on the sleeves.
1982 to 1992 The helmet colors were switched when Fuller arrived as coach but Bruce allowed an all green jersey and pants combination that was the laughing stock of ESPN.
1993 to 2007 In 1993 CSU introduced the now standard "Vegas Gold" color to CSU uniforms that remains today. Several minor variations occurred throughout the Lubick Era.
